Beet rose carving

I enjoy carving these two type of Radishes into roses. Can you guess what type of radish they are?

Carved carrot rose

Out of carrots!

A few year ago I was visiting my best friend. She ask me to put together a carved vegetable art centerpiece for her  because the flower she ordered to celebrate her family chinese new year never showed up that day. All she had in her fridge was radish, leek and a small personal size watermelon. I decided to carve a bird out of radish, carved white radish into roses and dyed it red around the tip.  I needed a beak and usually I use a carrot, but she had none...and  Her guest of honor was already at the door...she showed up earlier then expected. I notice she had some toothpick and I stuck that instead and added   a chinese red envelope . Her guest loved it!
